NAPPS: School Operational Models Overview meeting on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 (12pm @ Jackson Primary Campus)

NAPPS announces its first community meeting of the 2014-15 school year will be Wednesday, September 24th, 12:00 PM at the Jackson Primary Campus, located at 4191 Northside Dr., Atlanta, GA 30342.

Each local school system in Georgia must choose an operational system model by June 30, 2015.  As a district, APS is targeting a submission date for our letter of intent November 3-5th.  Models will go into effect for school year 2016-2017. There are three (3) main options to choose from:  IE2, Charter & Status Quo.  Each model varies in flexibility, waiver limitations, governance, performance evaluation, fiscal impact, contractual partners and length of contract.

Angela Smith, Special Assistant to the Superintendent, will be presenting the options on behalf of Atlanta Public Schools.  Following her detailed presentation, there will be a Q&A panel discussion with Ms. Smith along with Robert Stockwell, author of the blog,, which provides detailed analysis on the workings of APS, as well as two members of the School System Operating Models and Flexibility Options Advisory Committee.  Janet Kinard is a Neighborhood Group Selected Community Member, and Rocky Rief is the Board Appointed Community Member for our District 4.

Please bring your own lunch. Drinks will be provided by our host school, and all community members are welcome to attend.  For more information, email:
