News from the Nest - January 29th

Can you believe this has been the first full week of instruction we have had in January?  What a great week it has been.  We had our spelling bee, our school science fair winners participated in the district fair, our reading bowl team competed on Saturday (and got 3rd place!), and of course, we had our awards days. I am very proud of all the hard work of all our students and teachers.

I want to say a big congratulations to our spelling bee winner Taylor So. She will move on to the district spelling bee. Good luck, Taylor!

To all the spelling bee participants, great job!  You all did wonderful!  Let’s give a big hand to:
3rd grade students Nikhil Kumar, John Stevens, Thad Parks and Jack McDermott,
4th grade students Bobby Hill, Anika Kumar, Jahlan Bobb and Julien Joachim, and
5th grade students Sydney Dowell, Dylan Williams and Olivia Massar.
Parents - please remember that all students need to be in their classroom, seated and ready for instruction, at 8:00 am.  This means that your child should be at Bolton no later than 7:55.  Being prepared for instruction is extremely important to ensure academic growth, so having our students in class and ready to learn on time is a big focus for our administration.  To that end, please be looking for a letter from Ms. Strickling about tardies. Beginning next Monday (February 5), if your child arrives after 8:00, they will receive a tardy warning slip. Starting in mid-March, if your child arrives later than 8:00 they will receive a tardy slip.  Remember that excessive tardies have consequences.

Also, beginning today, school will dismiss at 3:00 pm.  This will continue until March 31 in order to make up instruction time that was missed due to snow days.

- Ms. Scharff
